About Us
Kids' Garden Club is a ministry for elementary and preschool aged kids. Our goal is to teach kids and families about health and wellness while focusing on God as the provider of good gifts in our lives. Once a month, meetings are held at the Freeburg community center to teach kids and families to grow their own food, embrace creativity, grow in faith, and form community relationships. During each meeting, kids will participate in a garden activity, craft, game, and Bible discussion. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay and participate with their kids if they'd like.
We are especially grateful for Alderfer Lumber, who donated the wood for our raised garden beds, as well as the Greenwood High School students who crafted the beds during their shop classes.
Eligibility
Kids ages pre-K through 5th grade are invited to participate. It is recommended that kids register in advance by clicking the "REGISTER" button below. Younger kids who have older siblings in attendance may attend, but parents must stay with them the entire time.
Adults who would like to volunteer during garden club meetings must email criminal and child abuse clearances to shannonnicolemoyer@gmail.com and be willing to agree to CPYM's behavior standards.
Anyone is welcome to help with maintaining the garden throughout the season. No regular commitment is necessary, just send an email to let us know!
2024 Season Information
Meetings will take place at the Freeburg Community Center, from 5:30-7pm on the first Tuesday of the month, from April through September.
The meeting dates are as follows:
April 1
May 6
June 3
July 1
August 5
September 2
Meetings will take place outdoors when weather cooperates, or if not, they will be held in the gym of the community center. God provided fantastic weather every week of the 2024 season and we are praying for that to continue!
Garden Harvest
Our garden beds produce an abundant harvest throughout the summer and fall. Some of this food is used in lessons and demonstrations during Garden Club meetings, and the rest of the food is available to the community. Anyone is welcome to come to the Freeburg Community Center and pick food from our plants to eat or share with others who are in need.
